Assignment: Façade Restoration
Duration: 2 Years (1986-1987)
Project Value: $1.5 million

Located on Michigan Avenue, this terra-cotta and masonry building underwent a exterior restoration program to return its façade to its original glory. The focus of this project included complete removal and replacement of the terra-cotta water table at the fifth floor level and cleaning of the building’s exterior walls. The water table reconstruction necessitated the casting of custom molds and fabrication of replacement terra-cotta pieces as well as the addition of supplemental support steel “outriggers”. The balance of the restoration work included removal and replacement of masonry parapet walls, tuckpointing, caulking and window painting.
